ED Vaughan is looking forward to stable flag-bearer Dance And Dance’s Diomed Stakes bid on June 1 after the six-year-old shone in a racecourse gallop at Newmarket on Friday afternoon.
Vaughan’s charge recorded a stirring success at Epsom almost a year ago on Oaks day when he landed the extended mile handicap.
Intriguingly, that handicap victory - Dance And Dance’s fifth career win - came in a time that was 1.94 seconds quicker than the Diomed Stakes scorer on the same day over course and trip.
In a fortnight he’ll return to the Downs for the Group 3 and his preparations are going well, judged by a beautiful piece of work on the Rowley Mile in the hands of Ryan Moore.
Ed said: “He galloped out really well and Ryan was delighted with him. He said he’s pretty straight.
“That should put him spot on for Epsom where he has shown that he handles the track and that’s a big advantage.”
Vaughan now plans to give him one more gallop before heading to Epsom.
