ED moved to Machell Place Stables in February 2011 having spent five years on the Hamilton Road at Grange House Stables.
Machell Place is a historic yard, perfectly located at the foot of the Warren Hill canters with easy access to all the nearby gallops and to the Severals trotting ring.
With 30 sizeable boxes, an onsite horse walker and spa Vaughan is already reaping the benefits of returning to the ‘Bury-side’ of town, having had the strongest start to the season that he ever has.
He said: “I am delighted to be back on the Warren Hill side of town where I had most of my success when I started training from Henry Cecil’s stable, Warren Place, in 2004. I know the gallops much better and we have gone back to a similar routine to then.“The yard is great – it has lovely old boxes which are warm in the winter yet cool in the summer. They also have big windows and are well-ventilated.”
“It’s in a wonderful location, just a stone’s throw from Warren Hill but also only a short walk to the gallops on racecourse side as well as the those on the Limekilns the other side of town.”
Machell Place has proved to be a happy and successful base for a number of its previous residents and has been the constant source of winners since Charlie ‘Jockey’ Wood, one of the leading jockeys of the late 19th century, built the yard in the 1890s.
